Jennifer Wheeler
Spiritual Friend and Mentor
I work with people who are exploring the deeper dimensions of this glorious emergence we call "being human." I think of my role not as a teacher with answers but as a spiritual friend--someone who can accompany you as you discover on your own. Some of my own explorations are chronicled on my Substack, Glorious Emergence.

My Approach
Being human is a glorious emergence. Our capacities and potential are unlimited. I cannot say what the next moment will bring in my own experience, much less in yours, so my orientation is to be curious.I think of myself as a spiritual friend. I prefer to ask questions rather than provide answers. Answers that arrive through our direct experience make us confident in ways that others' words can only hint at, so I ask questions. My approach draws upon the many traditions in which I have been embedded and which I have deeply studied, but there is no dogma here. There is only an open heart, a curious mind, and a grounded presence. These are what I offer. For more specific suggestions of how I might accompany you, see the Work With Me section.
Work Together
There are many ways we might work together. Here are a few ideas:
- contemplative inquiry
- meditation guidance
- guidance on other spiritual practices
- navigating life transitions
- navigating a transition in your spiritual life
- integrating profound experiences
- exploring anything that feels alive in your daily life, inner life, or spiritual practice

About
I have explored and been devoted to several spiritual paths. Raised in the Lutheran church, I turned to yoga in college and Buddhism in mid-life. I ordained as a Buddhist nun for several years and have a master's degree in Buddhist Studies. Subsequently, I followed the path of Advaita Vedanta. For the last dozen or so years, I have been a student of the Diamond Approach. My view of spirituality and religion is inclusive, not exclusive, so I do not identify with any single path or tradition.Outside my contemplative work, I volunteer teaching puppy kindergarten classes, care for my own beloved Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and my pampered horse, and spend much of my time tending my small property in the South Carolina Sandhills. (All of the photos on this site feature locations near me.) The rhythms of nature, animals, and contemplative practice all inform the way I understand what it means to be human. For a glimpse of what lights me up, visit my Substack, Glorious Emergence.
